Kinja'd!!!

so...instead of dropping 20K on a el camino, someone brought up the road master wagon and you know what...I think it suits my needs better

#1: it can tow seven. thousand. fucking. pounds.
#1.1: its big enough to hide the trailer in it when I am not using said trailer to haul bikes
#2: auto leveling air ride out back
#3: CHEAP. 150K miles for 2100 CAD????
#4: decent hwy milage. 25mpg is what i’m told.
#5: LT1
#6: paint it maroon and on torque Thurst 2s.
#7: long enough for me to roll out a sleeping bag and sleep in it should the need ever arise.
#8: dirt cheap Gm parts. and dirt cheap speed parts should I ever want some.

whats the draw back? other then having NO where to keep it and insurance is probably going to suck (or it might not? being so old...)

Do it. They’re awesome.

My hope is to find a Roadmonster in the near future before the prices on them go the way of the Grand Wagoneer.

I’ll be no help. I say do it. The only drawback I see are those wheels.

I agree 100000000% with everything except the Torque Thrusts.

The real choice is Impala SS wheels

Only issue I see is finding a nice, rust-free one and that the steering wheel might as well be a rudder. Other than that, they’re the masters of everything. Especially the road.

#9 they’re hilarious DO IT

#6 TBH I’m really disappointed by the torque thrust craze, maybe something more unique could be cool?

The only disadvantage if you get an LT-1 (and you do want an LT-1), is the Optispark distributor. Make sure the water pump isn’t seeping coolant. Those are a PITA to fix.

I loved mine. Now that my wife doesn’t want me to replace it, I very much regret getting rid of it.

dirt cheap Gm parts. and dirt cheap speed parts should I ever want some

Kind of .

Certain parts will be tough to find, and the Gen II platform isn’t the greatest for interchangeability. And some of the replacement parts (optis) are frustratingly shitty.

I’d still totally buy it though.

These cars really are fantastic. The interior build quality is hilariously bad, and I don’t even have high standards, but it is sumpremely comfortable. All your positives are 100% true.

Coming from a Lt1 owner of a caprice and firebird they are good cars. Brother had a camaro as well. That being said parts are becoming rare. No new oem optisparks. I have never had a failure but the GM ones were the ones to get. Now they are all remans that most arrive dead. They are easy to change if they are the vented unit. 95+. Screw the 94 down non venter style. Swapping means a cam swap. Look into the 24x conversion. Interior door panels were better on the buick. Most tho are so bad that you can’t shut the doors without ripping the panel off. Just got to watch some of the lt1 only parts. A lot of them are NLA
